Last week’s Business Symposium was beyond anything I could have imagined. Due to last year's experience, I was unsure how the event would go. During the symposium, we rotated through professional panels, met ISM Alumni, and networked with current ISM students. It was truly impactful to hear the different perspectives and views of the many successful individuals. We learned much about personal branding: how authenticity and character speak volumes and how each individual’s brand is multi-dimensional. Both of these ways of self-presentation are things I want to incorporate into my own professional brand. The most significant part of Thursday was not only hearing from others but talking to them and having conversations with them.

I am beyond grateful for the sense of community that came out of the Business Symposium. Speaking with the many individuals within the ISM program throughout the district, no matter their topic of study, came with a common understanding and common ground. Hearing others’ journeys and goals gave me a sense of comfort. Though last week was successful in one aspect, I have still been working on my research. I have lined up articles and ethics papers to dive into in the upcoming weeks and am excited for the potential they hold.
